Bringing a solid track record in major gifts and capital fundraising, Lilli Platt joined American Friends of Tel Aviv University (AFTAU) as Vice President of the Northeast Region on September 15, 2008.

From 2002, Platt served as Executive Director of the Resource Department of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), a humanitarian organization that assists communities in need around the globe.  Specializing in the cultivation of major gifts and foundation funding, she was responsible for more than $6 million in funds raised.

Academic and Community Roots

Prior to her work with JDC, she was Assistant Dean for External Relations at the Hofstra University School of Law.  As Director of the Law School's Capital Campaign, she led a drive that exceeded its $12.5 million goal. Earlier in her career, Platt was Director of Development for the South Shore Y Jewish Community Center, where she led a $9 million capital campaign, generating a 50% increase in capital fundraising.

American Friends of Tel Aviv University President Roni Krinsky rates her expertise a substantial plus for the organization, which raises funds in support of Tel Aviv University and sponsors educational, cultural and social events throughout the United States.  "Lilli's major gifts success -- combined with her impressive skills in donor stewardship -- bring an exciting new asset to AFTAU's Northeast Region," Krinsky said.

Platt, who came to the United States as an infant from a Displaced Persons camp in Germany, received both an M.S. and a B.S. from Brooklyn College.  She is the proud mother of three children.
