The elegant Fairmont Hotel and Club at Turnberry Isle provided the setting for a special American Friends cocktail reception hosted by Astrid and Henri Misrahi, members of the TAU Board of Governors from Spain who also maintain a winter residence in Florida. Invited guests were truly international in flavor, hailing from Israel, Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and other parts of the world.
The special guest speaker for the evening was Prof. David Menashri, founding director of Tel Aviv University's prestigious Center for Iranian Studies. Prof. Menashri addressed the threat posed by Iran to Israel, the Middle East region and the United States. His absorbing in-depth presentation was followed by a spirited question-and-answer session.
Many of AFTAU's national leaders were in attendance including AFTAU Board members Alan Aufzien, Gaby Brill, Norman Lipoff, Melvin Taub, Joel Tauber and Robert Topchik. Chairman of the Board William F. Cohen spoke about his deep commitment to the university and its outstanding academic and research programs, and introduced Gail Reiss, AFTAU's new Chief Executive Officer, to our Florida friends.
