American Friends enjoyed an evening of culture and conviviality at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall featuring a concert by Yefim Bronfman and the New York Philharmonic, followed by a private dessert reception with the pianist.
After a stirring concert, AFTAU Chairman Bill Cohen introduced Gail Reiss, AFTAU's new CEO, who spoke of her appreciation for the role Tel Aviv University plays in Israeli life, education and culture. Former Buchmann-Mehta School of Music student Or Re'em, a pianist currently studying at the Julliard School of Music, then reminisced about his TAU experience, emphasizing the quality of his internationally renowned instructors.
Guests were delighted to chat with pianist Yefim Bronfman, whose performance of the Brahms Concerto No. 2 was the highlight of the concert. He provided the final grace notes to a special AFTAU cultural event, the first of 2011 in New York.
