How does an inventive new idea become an essential part of our daily lives? That's the question AFTAU set out to answer with a new invitation-only series, "Israeli Innovation: Leading the World."
Nearly 200 American Friends enjoyed the first installment — "Israeli Innovation in Medical Engineering" — at Manhattan's Regency Hotel on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. They included event chairs David Avital (MTP Investment Group, NYC) and Richard Sincere (Sincere & Co., Chicago) and event committee members Oz Benamram (White and Case, NYC), Gil Breiman (Burns & Levinson LLP, Boston), Oren Heiman (Shiboleth LLP, NYC), and Yacov Levy (Levy Trajman Management Investment, Inc., Burlington, MA).
Among the guests were Asaf Shariv (Consul General of Israel in New York), Offer Gat (El Al North and Central American), Ofer Yardeni (Stonehenge Partners), Dr. Arturo Constantiner, Pamela Samuels (Extell Development Co.), Jon Gurkoff (Ada Products Co.), Wendy Levy and Mark Levy (Marcus and Levy), Michael Shaoul (Oscar Gruss & Son), and Merrie Frankel (Moody's Investors Service).
Following a packed cocktail reception, they heard from a high-profile panel combining pure science and investment acumen — the two essential halves of the innovation equation.
