From a Tel Aviv University alum to a global success: Uri Levine's Journey
More than 70 alumni and friends gathered at Skadden LLP in Times Square to hear Waze co-founder Uri Levine's journey from a Tel Aviv University alum to a three-person startup to a global success.
Chaired by TAU alum Uri Rabban, the event opened with welcomes from Yossi Vabman, Partner at Skadden, and continued with Moshe Zviran, Dean of TAU Business School; notes on TAU's Entrepreneurship program; and future plans for a Recanati alumni association in NY.
Levine, a passionate serial entrepreneur and mentor, is best known for co-founding Waze, a mapping service that Google bought in a 10-figure deal. As Uri said: "If you go to sleep with an idea, and in the morning it is still there — go for it. But you need a lot of passion and a lot of willingness to sacrifice. This is a rollercoaster, and for those of you who don't like rollercoasters, I advise you not to get on to the entrepreneurship train."
