Lessons from the General on Cyber-Security

Meital Stavinsky, Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and Co-Chair of the AFTAU South Florida Alumni and Friends Group, hosted a company of alumni, friends and professionals to meet and hear from Prof. Isaac (Itzik) Ben-Israel on cyber-security. Prof. Ben-Israel, the recognized leader in Israel in the field of cyber-security and head of the Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center at TAU, is also chairman of the Israel Space Agency. He spoke about the world of cyber-security from its early days and described the continuing evolution of the discipline.

Prof. Ben-Israel has helped develop an ecosystem in Israel that ferments the natural growth and development of technological advances and cyber-security. He said that it is never too early to start educating the next generation, which is literally growing up with technology. He has even set up education opportunities in elementary school.

Forbes recently credited Prof. Ben-Israel with positioning Israel to win in the $175 billion cyber-security market. He shared his personal journey, starting with the military in Israel then moving from military service to academia and business. He stressed that the interconnectedness of the three major areas in his career has been instrumental in his success.

Itai Benosh, Co-Chair of the AFTAU South Florida Alumni and Friends Group, thanked his Co-Chair Meital, Greenberg Traurig, and Prof. Ben-Israel for an informative and enlightening discussion.
