Oron Shamir was born in Israel in 1985 and has been based in Brooklyn, NY, since 2016. He has been a film critic and journalist since 2006 for publications such as Haaretz, City Mouse and Mako, and was a founding member of the Israeli Film Critic Association. In 2010, he founded SRITA.NET, an award-winning film blog especially for Israeli cinephiles, and still serves as its Editor-in-Chief. A former archivist at TAU's Steve Tisch School of Film and Television, he has served as a film programmer and curator for numerous film festivals and cultural institutes in Israel, including the TAU student film festival, the Jerusalem Film Festival, the UTOPIA Genre Festival and others. Since 2016 he has collaborated with the JCC Manhattan film festivals (Other Israel, ReelAbilities, Israeli Film Center).
