The Jews of Iraq with Salim Fattal

Over 100 Tel Aviv University friends and alumni gathered for a screening of the documentary The Jews of Iraq and a timely conversation with the film's producer and writer, Salim Fattal. The event was hosted by Janet and Avi Fattal at the Fattals' lovely home overlooking the scenic San Fernando Valley. Guests also enjoyed a wine reception with hors d'oeuvres and a delicious treat of homemade burekas.

Chairing the evening was TAU alum Ofer Alon, and Southern CA Alumni Leadership Committee co-chairs Doron Kahana and Clark Hoover, as well as TAU alum Tommy Orpaz, were also present. In attendance were members of the American Iraqi community Carmella Pardo and husband Nissan, David MordochGalit and Donal Tavey, and Edna Peters, sister of Moshe Dayan Center Director Prof. Uzi Rabi, who wrote special greetings for the meeting. Among other guests were Ira Reiner, a former Los Angeles County District Attorney, journalist Eyal Shemesh, and Sandar and Yoav Peled of IDB Bank.

After the screening and a lively Q-and-A session, there was an opportunity to purchase the book and have the book signed by the author. Proceeds from the sale of the book will support internships at the Moshe Dayan Center.
