Dear Friends,

On Monday Ambassador Mike Huckabee spoke at Tel Aviv University‘s (TAU) third annual Tel Aviv Conference: The Future of Israel, which brought together political leaders, advocates, and influential voices to discuss the future of Israeli democracy and the Middle East. In his remarks, Ambassador Huckabee praised TAU and the innovation emerging from its campus that is “changing the world because of the commitment to the depth of education and entrepreneurial activity” at the University.

At American Friends of Tel Aviv University (AFTAU), one of our most important roles is strengthening the ties and building lasting bridges between Israel and the US. Through research collaborations, academic exchange, and philanthropic partnerships, AFTAU helps connect American supporters with the extraordinary work happening at TAU

These bridges matter, and your support continues to make a meaningful impact on TAU students. During Operation Epic Fury, the AFTAU community responded generously to TAU‘s Emergency Campaign.

Because of you, students like Tomer, a third-year Accounting and Economics student who has served more than 300 days of reserve duty since October 2023, received the academic support needed to succeed. With help from TAU‘s Student Success Center, Tomer is at the top of his class and on track to receive an academic excellence scholarship.

I’m also proud to share that, once again, TAU has ranked #7 globally for producing venture-backed entrepreneurs alongside leading universities such as University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, MIT, and Harvard.

Next week we celebrate Shavuot, commemorating the giving of the Torah to Moses at Mount Sinai. This pivotal moment in Jewish history defined learning, inquiry, and the pursuit of knowledge as core Jewish values. Those same values are a central part of TAU‘s mission, where researchers and students dare to ask bold questions and pursue the unknown, advancing knowledge in ways that shape Israel and impact the world.

Thank you for helping AFTAU build bridges of learning, innovation, and partnership between Israel and the United States.

Shabbat Shalom,

Ben Pery
